UPDATE: Given the recent impact of COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution and care for the team here at Coats & Bennett, PLLC, we must regretfully withdraw from attending this trip in support of the Hispanic National Bar Association. However, please rest assured that we wish we could be with you all, and we will absolutely be in attendance at a future event.
Coats & Bennett attorneys William G. Pagán and Krista Contino Saumby will be attending the Hispanic National Bar Association‘s 2020 Corporate Counsel Conference & Moot Court Competition being held on March 19-22 in Phoenix, AZ.
Despite Hispanics accounting for just over 18% of the total U.S. population in 2018, Hispanic representation in law firms accounted for less than 5% of law firm associates and less than 2.5% of partners that year according to a 2018 report by the National Association for Law Placement (NALP). Hispanic representation is even more modest in the field of patent law. According to a 2017 survey of attorneys primarily practicing patent law, the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) reported that White attorneys alone outnumbered Hispanic attorneys by a ratio of over 30 to 1.
Coats & Bennett is proud that its Hispanic attorney representation looks more like America, with Hispanics accounting for 20% of its associates and over 14% of its partnership. In particular, Coats & Bennett is proud to showcase to the HNBA and its attendees the profound talent and thought leadership that these two attorneys provide.
