Our litigation experience extends to the Patent Board of Appeals and Interferences, to the United States Courts of Appeal and even to the United States Supreme Court.

We only litigate intellectual property causes and take great pride in knowing how to win these intricate cases. Coats + Bennett has successfully litigated a technology transfer dispute in Tokyo, Japan and for another client managed an intellectual property lawsuit in Australia while coordinating and leading parallel litigation in the United States. We recently obtained outstanding results for a number of clients in copyright litigation in the Eastern District of California, Northern District of Alabama and in the Southern District of New York. We also represented a small eastern North Carolina textile company, Domestic Fabrics Corporation, against Sears Roebuck & Co. in a patent infringement dispute. After prevailing on the patent infringement issue we persuaded the court that Sears’ infringement was willful, that the damages should be trebled, and that our client was entitled to attorney fees. In the end, the court’s judgment exceeded $3 million.
